The idea of the ic!berlin frame is that all its components are cut out of sheet metal. A method that breaks with common production technologies in this sector. Basically, the frame composes three parts: the front frame, the temple and a sleeve that locks up the lens.
The material used is a 0.5 mm, highly flexible stainless steel. The strap on the corner of the front frame, and the temple bend in a special way and form together a tension-based hinge that works without the use of screws. With the weight being between 12 and 25 grams make it very light weight with flexibility. |
